We are glad to welcome two new teachers to the Glenburn School.
Mr. Thomas Coleman – Eighth Grade Math
Mr. Coleman comes to Glenburn after teaching for eighteen years at The Holden School and Eddington Schools as part of RSU #63.
During his tenure he was responsible for teaching all academic areas which included: mathematics, technology and science. He is a mentor teacher for the University of Maine and Husson University as well as a member of the Education Advisory Board.
Most recently Mr. Coleman has joined the Maine State STEM Partnership and Task Force to promote the teaching of higher ordered thinking skills within the classroom. He has coached both boys and girls soccer and has been a member of the Eastern Maine Board of Soccer Officials.
Ms. Erin Smith – Sixth Grade Social Studies and ELA
Mrs. Smith began her education career in Guilford, Maine as a kindergarten teacher at the Sedamocha School. After a brief hiatus Mrs. Smith took from teaching to raise her family she returned to education instructing middle school ELA and Social Studies at the Piscataquis Community Secondary School also in Guilford, Maine. Ms. Smith loves to use a modified workshop model to deliver a customized approach to student learning in the classroom. Her former principal describes her as a talented and dedicated teacher who loves her students and is totally committed to the enhancement of their education.
